From the Divine Office, Ordinary Time, Evening Prayer, Monday’s Week II, Psalm Prayer.
When you took on flesh, Lord Jesus, you
made a marriage of mankind with God.
For those who don’t pray the Divine Office—and I encourage taking up the discipline of praying the Divine Office, otherwise known as the Liturgy of the Hours—there are prayers at the end of every psalm. The first sentence of Monday’s evening prayer at the end of the second week in the cycle was rich for meditation. It certainly illumines the Christ as bridegroom metaphor.
