Following Pentecost of last Sunday, today begins a series of three feasts that reveal the nature of God. First up, today, reveals the inscrutable nature of the Trinity. Of course all three readings are required to get a full picture of the Trinity, but the Gospel reading focuses on the Son.
God so loved the world that he
gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in
him might not perish
but might have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into
the world to condemn the world,
but that the world might be saved
through him.
Whoever believes in him will not
be condemned,
but whoever does not believe has
already been condemned,
because he has not believed in the
name of the only Son of God. Jn 3:16-18
Watch this from a group called The Mark 10
Mission on the Gospel passage. I just
came across them for the first time, and I’m impressed. In just twelve minutes they read the Gospel,
explain it most joyously, pray on it, and then sing a hymn.
Wasn’t that wonderful! Obviously
they are British Catholics. Here is
their website. https://www.themark10mission.co.uk/
It appears to be associated with the Franciscans with a mission to explain the
faith to children. But it has some good
stuff for us older children!
