Matthew Monday: First Day of Soccer

Matthew started soccer on Saturday.  Boy did he have fun.  It was mostly instructional but they did have them play a five on five game.   It was funny watching them.  They had no idea really on how to play.

Here are a few pictures.

His socks kept falling down...lol.

His team got blue jerseys.

And he tried playing goaly for a while but gave in to the impulse to go chase the ball down the field and the opposing team kicked a goal into the empty net.  :)

  3. There is nothing more adorable in the world than watching little kids play soccer or baseball.

May you guys have many more years of games to watch. It is one of my treasured memories.

  5. He looks like he's really enjoying it. Both my grandsons have played soccer from a young age. The youngest is 11 and plays goal keeper. The almost 17 year old makes pocket change by refereeing games.

It's good to keep the kids in sports. The only thing I don't like it in the league our youngest grandchild is that they have Sunday games, making the kids miss church because we have a park that has 8 soccer fields and another park that uses the softball fields, about 8 of them. We are in the Bible Belt and you would think they could schedule Saturdays only unless they are in playoffs.

    1. That is surprising that they play on Sunday. Matthew's league doesn't play on Sunday as far as I know. I don't know about the older kids. A lot of the leagues here are part of religious schools, and so I'm thinking they don't play Sundays, but I truely am not sure. I just saw in the news today that the Catholic Bishop of New Orleans has stipulated that all children's sports be terminated for Sundays there. So there's an issue there too. If your grandson referees, then he must be good. God bless both your grandchildren, and thanks for stopping by.
