Still, I think the statue is ugly. I detest it. I don't know if it's art of not, but I'll give the artist the benefit of the doubt. I don't ever want to get into one of those "What is art?" discussions again! If this were in a church, and I can't see that ever happening, then I feel it would be sacrilegious, but in an art showing, I just think it's ugly. The artist could have at least given her a pleasant face, and she's too tall for a first century Jew. Way too tall.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2833359394611156317.post-24460378317953882452014-05-21T22:39:28.615-04:002014-05-21T22:39:28.615-04:00LOL, whatever you said. As for the statue, M...((( What do others think?)))

As for the statue, ME, ME, ME, MYSELF AND "I" have seen "IT" before but US (usual sinners) "I" mean us godly cells have never given our opinion and bottom line for sinners, "I" mean us human animals would need to look into this so called artist heart to see what his true intentions were before "I" could agree that "IT" is not a sacrilege. Long story short, if our creator really did have known and/or unknown miss-guided backward "Lived" thoughts then like you Manny and because of Victor and your so called "Jesus" who could have once been born in this woman statue, "I" also must give this person the benefit of our alien doubts. So no, at this time and space, "I" don’t think that this work of art intended to subvert the sacred and/or disparage Mary’s eminence. Let's just say that like YA, "I" would confirm and say in these last days that "IT" is not truly a great work of art until the alien gods agree that "IT" should be accepted as such...

Longer story shorter Manny, again, we gods at this time can not compete with Victors so call GOD (Good Old Dad) that Victor war ship, "I" mean worships and therefor , we alien gods have no right to judge this person so for spiritual, reality argument sake, let's just keep the peace and say that by calling this Statue “The Virgin Mother” who carried "Jesus", the Son of Man, Hell, "I" mean well, "IT" certainly at least does attract a LOT more public City, "I" mean publicity comments to have named "IT" so and..........................................and............................and........................

END YA SAY sinner vic? DON'T BE LIKE THAT! BE NICE NOW!

Go figure brothers and sisters in Christ nowadays.

HAVE A NICE DAY ALL! It derives its meaning purely from the title, otherwise it would be an anatomical diagram. That just shows you the paucity of the artistry. It's crap with an interesting title.Mannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15396201693030286919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2833359394611156317.post-52676459003580530312014-05-18T03:54:40.186-04:002014-05-18T03:54:40.186-04:00What if ... the statue was not named what it was n...What if ... the statue was not named what it was named?

God bless.Victor S E Moubarakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04280638667651857296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2833359394611156317.post-49461669819338572422014-05-18T00:26:23.976-04:002014-05-18T00:26:23.976-04:00Good point about not looking under your mom's ...Good point about not looking under your mom's clothes. There are lines that you don't cross, and attempting to reveal the Blessed Mother's innards is wrong. You don't look under your own mom's clothes nor under her skin - and you certainly don't represent the mother of Jesus that way.Jannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2833359394611156317.post-36509284729545816192014-05-16T23:25:11.933-04:002014-05-16T23:25:11.933-04:00I'm not sure the Crucifixion is a perfect anal...I'm not sure the Crucifixion is a perfect analogy but it is a good analogy. Now, you can watch Jesus being scourged in Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" and call that beautiful and revolting and deeply disturbing all at the same time.

And that's the pretty much the same sense I have with this bit of artwork. It's beautiful not in what it portrays, but in what is meant to be represented, and that is Mary's active participation in our salvation, to the point of nearly dying at the foot of the Cross as she watched her Son in agony.Steve Kellmeyerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07509461318016670424noreply@blogger.com
