I look forward to reading your reactions as you go through 2013. :-)Juliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11368767968953817531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2833359394611156317.post-82582916014086707682013-01-16T20:14:25.827-05:002013-01-16T20:14:25.827-05:00I had intended to read A Soldier of the Great War ...I had intended to read A Soldier of the Great War last year but never got to it. It's on my bookshelf just waiting to be read. It's a long one, so I'm looking for the right time. Mark Helprin is supposed to be a fine writer. I've read some of his essays, usually in the Wall Street Journal. I'll consider Mary, Queen of Scotland at some point. I am currently reading a history book, and I'll post something about that this evening.Mannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15396201693030286919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2833359394611156317.post-23296512284594141242013-01-16T19:38:13.765-05:002013-01-16T19:38:13.765-05:00Oh that one sounds great, I will read it. And for once I actually HAD time, lol.
Have you ever read A Soldier of the Great War, by Mark Helprin? I don't know if it is in the range of things you like to read but it was one of the best-written books I've read. Also, Mary, Queen of Scotland and the Isles, by Margaret George. A couple of my faves that I like to re read.Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10847572866285311259noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2833359394611156317.post-81878329809658257852013-01-11T21:10:55.476-05:002013-01-11T21:10:55.476-05:00Well I am not a fast reader Kelly, but let's s...Well I am not a fast reader Kelly, but let's say a persistent reader. A lot of those are short stories. You should see how much more people on a literature forum I visit do than me, three or four times more.

Tell me which ones you are interested in. I am pretty sure you would love the short story “A Simple Heart,” by Gustave Flaubert. If you don't mind reading it off the computer you can read it here: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/1253/1253-h/1253-h.htm. They translate the title as "A Simple Soul." You did make me want to try a couple of those, and when I can, I want to pick them up.
I grew up reading Steinbeck and still love to go back and read his works, hope you enjoy them.
Years ago, I read my Bible much more than I currently do, another thing I want to do this year!
God Bless!Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10847572866285311259noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2833359394611156317.post-39456072110358105562013-01-10T23:11:22.329-05:002013-01-10T23:11:22.329-05:00Thank you Kathy.
